Today Dakar 2010 has started! Buenos Aires was filled with people who came to watch the official start of the rally. At the time of posting this update the city is still filled with people cheering the participants and enjoying the atmosphere of the rally.
Patrick Trahan was the first to start today, and all other riders have passed to startline. Because of the timing for a lot of teams it will be a late arrival at Colon. Christopher Jarmuz with number 22 was one of the last riders to start. The cars and trucks started after him. The riders and servicecrew head for Colon at this moment, with no specials today. Tomorrow is the first special, with 219 for the bikes. Cars and trucks drive a different course. The route will be very fast with a lot of quick turns. The special follows the same route as the WRC, so it will be fast riding indeed. ASO has provided IRITRACK, which you can use to track the riders of Team Honda Europe (and your other favorites). Take a look at http://tracking.dakar.com/ASO/index_us.html and see how the riders are doing. As a reminder the startnumbers of our teammembers: Christopher Jarmuz - 22 Mirjam Pol - 50 Gerben Vruggink 87 Aloys Ressing 91 Tonnie Krabbenborg 95 Patrick Trahan - 153 Tomorrow more news from the bivouac! |
