Team Honda Europe rider Krzysztof Jarmuz finished 22nd overall in 2009 in his first Dakar. A great performance for the Polishman, who's am member for the 3rd consecutive year of the Team Honda Europe. In the last weeks for departure (the team flies to Buenos Aires via Madrid Sunday december 27th)
Krzysztof spends quit some time on his physical training. Running and cycling are often on the program these days.Compared to a year ago he's a lot wiser, better prepared but also fitter. ,,I've used up three bikes this year, that many did I ride'' he jokes. Off course finishing is the most important, but to improve his 22nd place is certainly a goal.
He's always calm and modest, but knows what he wants. During the tough stages in the Atacama desert he scored his best results. JArmuz: ,,The competition is fierce, the best riders from all over the world will be there. My goal is to finish off course, but a ranking in the top 15 should be possible when nothing crazy happens. I'm fitter, and come better prepared to the start. The bike with the longer swingarm has a better stability on high speeds, which is good for me.''
Jarmuz competed in a number of races in the Polish cross-country and enduro championship. Furthermore he road a lot using roadbooks in his homecountry, prepared by a friend. His buddy from the last Dakar, Vadim Pritulyak from Kazachstan, will nog be there. Some weeks ago the Kazach injured himself during a motorcycletraining and had to cancel. Dissapointing for everybody, his bike will be waiting for him in Buenos Aires in vain. ,, I'm sad Vadim will not be there. When he's around, there's always something to laugh about. We will miss him for sure.''
When the Dakar 2010 heads off, Krzysztof will start calmly. ,,I will not push or take any risks in the first few days. The differences will be made in the desert stages. There I made up some places in the ranking everyday last year, and I hope to do the same this year. It will be interesting to watch how the 450's will hold towards the 690's which now have to use the restrictor. Also looking at 2011, when everybody will be racing the 450, this will be a very interesting race.''
 
Krzysztof Jarmuz has a new main sponsor for Dakar 2010. On his bike 'Radio Zet' has a prominent place. Radio Zet is one of the biggest radiostations in Poland, and will give a lot of publicity,
,,I'm verry happy with this sponsor, with the attention this will provide I hope to achieve more awareness in Poland, so that I can again find new sponsors for Dakar 2011.''
