The new Honda kit which will be put to use during Dakar 2011 is getting close to its completion. Within the next two weeks the first tests will be run with the complete kit. In July and August despite the holiday season the work continued which resulted in a lot of progress. The specifications are determined, all the prework has been done. All experiences from the last Dakars with the Honda CRF 450X have been put to good use to develop a reliable, easy to install en pricetechnicallycompetitive.

HT Rally Raid develops new rallykit |

HT Rally Raid works hard on the development of a new kit for the Honda CRF 450X.Most important characteristics are a low center of gravity and a good air conduction around the engine and the radiators with makes sure an optimal cooling is realized. Despite a total fuel capacity of 32 liters, the bike still has the same measurements as the standard CRF450X.

Subscription Dakar 2011 open, preparations have started |

As of May 15th the subscription for Dakar 2011 is open, and with that the preparations for the 3rd edition in South America are underway. For the riders its time to find sponsorbudgets and to make important decisions about the choice of material, how to organise the service, etc. etc. For the Team Honda Europe the preparations for Dakar 2011 are in full swing. Already since February the development of the Honda CRF 450 X Dakar continues.

Presentation Dakar 2011 in Eindhoven |

French Dakar organiser ASO was in Eindhoven in The Netherlands to reveal the first details of Dakar 2011. It was the first meeting in a series of many wich ASO will give as part of a worldtour to inform competitors, press and partners. Host of the evening (together with his Belgium colleagues) was Henk Hellegers, who is now the sole representative for ASO in The Netherlands. ASO's assistent-director Frédéric Lequien was also present to state the main differences with the last edition and 2011. All ''elite'' riders are obliged to use a bike with a maximum of 450cc. Amateurs still can still opt for a bigger engine. For 2012 all riders will have to come to the start with a 450.

Team Honda Europe in Tunisia |

Teammanager Henk Hellegers and Mirjam Pol are in Tunsia at this moment to accompany the Honda Desert Adventure travels.
Mirjam Pol acts as a guide and will lead the way into the dunes around Douz. Customers will ride a Honda CRF 450X, and learn all the tips and tricks from Mirjam concerning riding in the dunes and soft sand. Besides to accompany the trips, the team is also in North Africa to do some tests, which will take place afterwards. The team brought a rallybike, which has been equipped with the latest adjustments. Because of the high temperatures in South America, the rallybike sometimes suffered from vapour lock caused by boiling fuel. A special device to measure fueltemperatures using infrared enables the team to study which improvements to the fuelsystem will give the best results. Furthermore three new types of fronttires will be tested as well.

Saturday February 27th the Dakarparty given by the Dutch riders from Team Honda Europe was attended by many familymembers, friends and sponsors. Tonny, Alois, Gerben and Mirjam told the audience about their adventures and experiences. Great for the people present to hear all this firsthand, and to have a look at the Dakarbikes still covered in the South American dust. The many pictures and videoclips from the helmcameras from Tonny and Alois made the story complete.

Thursday 18 to 21 February all Dutch fans of motorcycles head for the 'Motorbeurs Utrecht'. Off courseHT Rally Raid is also present to promote the 'Honda Desert Adventure'. A fully accomodated 5-day trip in Tunisia, organised for people who want to have a taste of the Dakarfeeling, but have no or little offroadexperience. Accompanied by Mirjam Pol who will teac you everything about riding in the sand of the fantastic dunes in Tunisia riding a Honda CRF 450X.
